Jacksonville Florida

St. Johns River

Postmarked December 26, 1985

St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida.
Time to start scanning some of my older cards.  Some were exchanged with family and friends while in high school and some I found in a box of old photos from my grandmother's house.

Interesting fact that the sender included on the card (I think I had heard this once before): Flamingos are pink because they eat shrimp.

North Carolina and Florida

Here are the last two from the first US to US round robin I did. First is a card with a great pic of Cold Mountain in Western North Carolina. Then another from Florida with shells. My daughter likes to collect shells so this was a nice one to receive!

Siesta Key, Florida and the Oregon Coast

Two more from the US to US round robin. One of Siesta Key located in Sarasota Florida. The other is a view of Haystack Rock in Pacific City, Oregon. Both look like very beautiful places! If only we could do more traveling. Looking forward to a trip to Washington state we are planning for this summer.

Kennedy Space Center, Florida

I joined a couple US to US round robin's to add to our collection of US State cards. Here's the first of those. A card from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We've visited FL a couple times with the kids but have never made it to the Space Center. Maybe next time. I'd love to be able to see a space shuttle launch someday.
BTW, HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH!!

Florida's Gentle Giants

The manatee. I love 'em and collect all things manatee. Don't ask me why. I know they aren't the most attractive creatures out there! But I've been interested in them ever since my first visit to Florida in 1995. In fact I just recently "adopted" a manatee and I'm waiting for my packet in the mail from http://www.savethemanatee.org/

This is a card I got from a trade
